Personal Profile:

Dr. Sun Mingxu is a Associate Professor (National High-Level Young Talent), Associate Professor, and Master’s Supervisor.He joined Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ International Frontier Science Research Institute in 2024 after returning to China. His research focuses on cutting-edge electrocatalytic CO₂ reduction, with emphasis on:Reaction mechanism exploration (e.g., intermediates dynamics and microenvironment regulation);Catalyst design (structure-controlled and composition-tunable electrodes);System optimization (electrolyzer architecture and operational parameters).As the first/corresponding author, he has published multiple high-impact papers in journals like Nature CommunicationsAngewandte Chemie International EditionAdvanced Science, and ACS Catalysis, and holds 3 national invention patents. He leads projects funded by the National Major Talent Program (Category A), Jiangsu Natural Science Foundation, and Japan’s “Decarbonization” Science and Technology Promotion Fund. He serves as a Young Editor for journals like ResearchCarbon NeutralizationFlexMat, and Green Carbon.

Research Directions:
Developing efficient, sustainable electrocatalytic systems to enhance carbon-based resource conversion for carbon neutrality:
  1. Reaction Mechanism: Investigate key intermediates and microenvironment regulation in CO₂ reduction using in situ characterization and precision experiments.


  2. Electrode Design: Engineer ultra-thin, superhydrophobic porous structures and metal-organic frameworks for selective CH₄/C₂H₄ production.


  3. System Optimization: Optimize electrolyzer design and operation parameters for industrial-scale carbon conversion.
