Introduction

Dr. Wanlin Guo is a Mechanicist, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, President of Institute for Frontier Science. From 1981 to 1991, he received a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and a doctorate degree in solid mechanics from Northwestern Polytechnical University. He was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 1996, appointed as the “Changjiang Scholar” Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education in 1999, awarded the title of National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker in 2012, awarded the Xu Zhilun Mechanics Award in 2013, and awarded the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation for Science and Technology Progress in 2019. Award and the International Mechanics Award Eric Reissner Award, and won the title of National Advanced Worker in 2020. He is a member of the 8th Disciplinary Evaluation Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the deputy director of the 8th Interdisciplinary Science and Future Technology Special Committee of the Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education, and an executive director of the Chinese Society of Mechanics. He presided over the national 973 Program project, the National Key R&D Program for Transformative Technologies, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China's key projects. 

Professor Wanlin Guo has long been engaged in the research of mechanical theory and key technologies in the safety and intelligence of aircraft: he established the three-dimensional fatigue fracture theory of aerospace structures, and the results have been systematically used in the development and troubleshooting of various aircraft models and the Long March 5 series. Model engineering is urgently needed. Established a physical and mechanical theoretical system of low-dimensional material structure force-electricity-magnetism-optical-thermal coupling, predicted a series of intelligent properties such as giant electrostriction of low-dimensional material structure, and confirmed and applied by experiments.
